This is a genuine Fender replacement neck from 1986. These were the first factory replacement necks Fender offered and Fender still offers factory replacement necks to this day. These first ones are not that common but you can find some information online if you google ”Fender medallion neck”. My neck is however missing the Medallion part. The medallion was an inlaid circular aluminum disc that was attached to the back of the headstock. The disc read "original Fender neck". At some point in my necks history this disc was removed, either purposefully or it was just lost, I have seen a few others missing theirs as well. These necks were sold unfinished and without logo. Mine has never had a logo on it and also appears to have never been drilled for a string tree. It has a pencil date on the heel designating it as being made in 1986. I have read online these were based on the early Corona '62 Reissue necks, no skunk stripe , heel truss adjustment via screw driver etc but this neck has large/jumbo frets not vintage small frets. This neck plays phenomenal, it's just a great neck with a broken feel to it. I had it on a ESP Body (also listed) and it played so great it's kind of a shame to piece it out but I know it wasn't original to that guitar anyways. Beautiful looking rosewood, frets in great shape. Dead straight with no playability issues. I took photos showing the neck has some finish wear, someone played it a lot but as said the frets are great, all they did was break the finish in to a super comfortable feel. Dings, dents and scratches but nothing drastic considering it's nearly 40 years old, pencil date 10-27-86. Has what I assume to be the original nut. It has a rather rare set of Sprezels on it. These are Sprezel locking tuners from the 80s without USA marked on the back of them and also Star engraved buttons. These were used on the very first runs of the Strat Plus guitar and were pretty much not used by the end of 1987. They are in great shape and period to the age of the neck, I assume they must of been ordered at the same time. F stamped neckplate with 4 screws included, this came to me with the neck.
There is a lot of information on these medallion Fender necks and if you look around you will see Fender sold unfinished bodies with the same medallion in the 1980s as well. Cool piece of Fender history and an awesome playing neck.
