1999 Fender Precision Bass Special Made in Mexico and finished in Candy Apple Red. The Special aspect of the Precision Special is to differentiate this from a standard Precision. The difference being the added Jazz Pickup to the bridge position and the neck nut width being a slimmer 1.5 inches like a Jazz bass. The slimmer neck and Jazz Pickup make this a little easier playing with added tonal abilities. This one as stated was made in 1999 and for being over 25 years of age it's in nice shape. At some point and active preamp was added. This is powered by a 9 volt battery under the pickguard. A small amount of wood was removed to allow the battery to fit, the pickguard does bulge slightly up right there. The pickguard was changed to the current pearloid, original was gold. A high mass omega bridge was also added. The neck is in great shape, no issues. Frets have little to no wear and the rosewood fretboard has great grain. The fretboard "inlays" are sticker inlays and Spector style. These can be removed if you do not like the look of them. The body has a few scratches but no chips or missing finish. This bass has a great setup and needs nothing but played. Fender no longer makes this model and this color was discontinued long before this model was. No Case.
