I have approximately 960 vines on 3/4 of an acre available to someone who is willing work the vineyard in exchange for splitting the juice between us.
It is ideal for someone who is considering starting their own vineyard but wants to see what it's like to maintain one prior too planting their own or someone who doesn't have the money to invest in one at this time (I have about $6,000 in just the vines), or doesn't want to plant now and wait 8 years for the vines to mature.
In 2024 the harvest produced 60 gallons of juice which yielded Chardonnay wine professionally processed and bottled locally. Additionally, I have about 60 Pinot Noir vines. Since I planted the rows in successive years each row has come to maturity since then which should produce more than 80 gallons of Chardonnay.
I have a drip watering system and will provide the water.
You will provide the labor: trim the vines, de-weed around the vines and between the rows (by hand with a hoe, no Roundup! or a lawn mower), periodically tie up the vine branches to the wires with rubber bands (supplied), place netting over the vines as the grapes near harvest to keep the birds out (I have the netting and big rubber banks).
Harvest is a one-day affair usually during the last two weeks of August.
Your time commitment will be from April 1 through the end of August. (5 months).
