Traveling up Hwy 89 Saturday (Feb 7th) and went around a sweeping left hand bend in the road that had gravel on the right side. I took the turn to wide and the car hit the gravel and slid into an embankment which wouldn't have been bad except for the bolder that was sticking up from the lower part of the embankment. It tore into the car from the right front to the right rear, ripping the front and rear suspension, fenders and liners, rocker panel, outer door skin, and various things in-between. Thankfully the drive train still looks good and is the heart of this car as most Z06 lovers know. The interior is still perfect and the leather looks new, all the glass is still good as well as hood, trunk and driver side panels. The car only has 22,400 miles and was in mint condition. Because it was not a front impact, the air bags didn't even go off. The drivers side chrome wheels still look perfect but I don't know if the passenger wheels are still straight since they are turned from the impact. I have two corvette salvage yards that want the car at the price I'm asking but have not committed to a deposit as of yet, one is looking into shipping cost. So here is your chance to buy a perfect running LS7 and 6 speed tranny. The engine ran perfectly, had high oil pressure and was the strongest and cleanest running pure stock LS7 engine I have ever driven out of "six" (6) C6 Z06's that I have owned since 2006, it got 18mpg around town and 30mpg on the road, incredible! And no, I did not touch the valves on this engine since it is pure stock and never taken over 6500 rpm. Its a lie that all LS7 engines need valve guides replaced, out of six Z06's I've owned, the only one that ever had the valve problem was my first brand new 2006 Z06 that I modified and revved to 7k all the time. I have two friends that had high mileage Z06's (90K) that never had a valve issue because they never revved past 6700rpm, the car's peak torque is at 6300rpm, no need to rev higher than that to get peak performance out of this engine.
I bought this car three years ago from a high end car rebuilder in ILL. The car was hit on the right front fender and wheel. Because the insurance company could not replace the carbon fiber fender with a new one from GM (they don't make them any longer) and they would not repair it with a used fender, so they ended up totaling the car for the previous owner. I had it professionally inspected and it was 100% perfect after the repair. Not that it makes any difference now, but it was perfect car until last week. There is a demand for a lot of parts that are still good on this car but I am not parting it out, it sells as a complete package. The LS7 engine alone is worth what I'm asking for the whole car, not to exclude the stronger transmission that comes in the 2010 Z06. Installing this engine and transmission in any car will bring nothing but joy and adrenaline! ( :
I have two pictures from the accident scene and the rest are at the tow yard in Chino Valley. The last three pictures were before the accident. As you can see, the drive train looks perfect from the radiator back, nothing in the drive train was hit, just the outer parts of the right side and front and back bumpers. I'm also including one picture of the damage the car had originally three years ago when I bought it. I recently installed a new Kenwood radio with a backup camera, what a shame. I have all the manuals, wheel locks and maintenance records in the trunk storage compartment. Title in hand, cash or electronic bank wire only, $15,000 firm!
Here are a couple of good videos on a stock LS7 engine with 86,000 miles with no mods! The real horsepower.
